Yet fans pretty much yawned at that ride instead of showering it with hate, like they did another short-lived attraction themed to an underwater creature. Yes, that was intended to be a musical comedy version of the Universal horror classic. Uh, that was me, by the way. Flops happen to everyone. After the switchbacks, the final pathway led back across to the front of the ride building, and into a partially hidden entrance behind a protruded door.

The Flash Pass entrance led in front of the other side of the building. It bypassed the queue area out front and merged into the line that led right into the station.

A Green Lantern Power Battery sits atop a rock pedestal, with the origins of Hal Jordan playing on a screen behind it. The first thing you saw when you entered the station was the crashed starship of Abin Sur, the Green Lantern of Space Sector who died in a crash, and passed his ring onto Hal Jordan.

In the next room, a Green Lantern Power Battery sat atop of a rocky pedestal, in front of a screen that told the backstory of Green Lantern. After exiting the room, the line then went into a hallway, where the Green Lantern oath was displayed on a sign. The queue then turned right and headed right underneath the track of the coaster itself. After the last interior part, you chose to go into either left or right hallways.

Both choices led to stairways up to the station. If you chose the left side, it went up the stairs, where the side was open with lots of air, and sunshine coming through. If you chose the right side, the stairway was entirely enclosed. In January , construction of the lift hill was completed. In April the final pieces of track were put in place. On May 19, Green Lantern soft-opened to a select group of season-pass holders, media and families from Children's Miracle Network.

The ride opened to the public on May Green Lantern is located in the Boardwalk section of the park. Green Lantern is the third roller coaster to occupy this plot of land, following the Sarajevo Bobsled which ran at Great Adventure from to before moving to Six Flags Great America and Great Escape and the Great American Scream Machine an Arrow Dynamics looping coaster which had occupied this area from to The coaster also reuses the Scream Machine's queue area building.

The coaster is the park's second standup coaster; the first was a smaller coaster manufactured by Intamin , Shockwave, which operated from to , and had also been installed at Six Flags Magic Mountain , preceding Riddler's Revenge. The theme was chosen to coincide with the Green Lantern film released the same year the ride debuted. The track is painted green, with the exception of the yellow vertical loop.

The second corkscrew was originally the track section which was going to be yellow, but it was decided to switch the scheme to the first loop.
